ours is a perpetual sick house, and violet's runny nose rarely turns off these days, so kevin and i didn't think much of the latest sniffles until the eye goo. kevin took her to the doctor for the diagnosis: ear infection, sinus infection, bronchitis, and conjunctivitis. so much for "just another cold." i have also been sporting the pinkeye horror show and playing the eye-contact evasion game while simultaneously trying to conceal a hacking cough, but things seem a little better today. five days of a pretty hardcore antibiotic prescription later, violet's doing much better, but she is supersad to have missed her trip to san diego for "easter saturday" (when my family celebrates because traffic is better). the only sign that it was easter weekend in the lynn house was the lily blooming in our backyard.
i was disappointed to miss my family to say the least, and not only because i suspect that "the easter bunny" has some see's candy with my name on it. nana is hopefully going to make it up to los angeles for easter the sequel next weekend, so we saved the frilly dress photo op. in the meantime, violet finally fits into the adorable nautical outfit that auntie courtney bought her, so she happily modeled that instead.
violet has been refusing solid foods throughout her illness, until saturday night, when she finally welcomed a return to peas. on her roster so far: cereal, peas, sweet potatoes, carrots, apples, pears, peaches, and bananas. the only gag-inducer has been avocado, and the biggest surprise is that she likes the vegetables better than the fruit. oh wait, the biggest surprise is actually that she likes her (admittedly overpriced yet super awesome) high chair. only for short periods of time, and only if she gets two of her own spoons, but i count it a success.
before the bacterial invasion, kevin got in a little fun daddy-daughter time on his hiatus week. since we live so close to universal studios, he took violet over to citywalk and carried her through the sensory storm in the bjorn. he confirmed that she's her father's daughter when her favorite thing turned out to be the wafting scent of donuts. her eyes went wide and she craned her neck, eager to inhale more of the sweet smell of clogging arteries. she also enjoyed the wave machine outside the billabong store, the rainbow of saltwater taffy inside the candy store, and bar-fighting at the saddle ranch with her partner in crime.
Egads what a perfect storm of illness. Violet looks cuter than ever, if that's even possible.
ReplyDeleteThat citywalk postcard had me in stitches. And not because of violet. ;)
ReplyDeletePoor Violet (and parents) - at least her immune system is going to be totally amazing after her first year of daycare. Also, I love her in the sailor pants!
